Born and raised in Eastern Idaho, Brian has had a life long interest in the outdoors and especially in wildlife. Growing up that meant a lot of drawing and painting of deer and elk, and visits to places where he might see them. Since then it has meant driving his family crazy as he looks for wildlife on any family drives. Photography has now replaced drawing and painting as his way to connect with the wildlife and wild places around him.
He and his wife, Deborah, have 10 children and now now 7 grandchildren, which are the real joy in his life. His professional life has been spent as a teacher, first with high school age students, and for the last 25 years as a professor, and teaching really is his second love, behind his family.
