Acerca del libro
These pictures share an impulse for me with poetry by prompting further considering. And like found poetry (which in many ways is what all poetry is) show what is often hurried past without notice. Taken around Chicago during the height of Covid, each catches a piece of what I found curious or droll or beautiful about the place I’d recently called home. They don’t directly identify the city or document the vacuity attending the pandemic, but are fragment reflections collectively serving as a record of potential.
Images were set to work in apposition with adjacent shots, as part of short thematic runs (season, texture, color), and to fit within the cadence of the group. Small packets aiming to reassemble as larger bandwidth. Pattern recognition of capacities that can be accepted or rejected on their own, as part of a burst, as stanzas, or as lines in a confession.
